In today’s present society, the term video games are often used as a general expression. The term started to become vague, when video game systems virtually began to rule the world. When you hear someone say the word video game, you already know that they are referring to a game that is played via a video game console. This is not something that anybody is oblivious to. However when someone mentions engaging in playing a video game, this leaves room for interpretation.

There are a wide array of video games as well as video game systems available today. So many, in fact, that often times when someone says they were engaged in playing a video game. It is often followed with another question that inquires on which system, or what specific game. There are so many different video games to choose from; sometimes the choices alone can seem a bit overwhelming.

Of course, any time that you choose a video game you need to be assured that you have the right console available in order to play the game. There are different consoles that are on the market today. However some of the most popular consoles that are on the market are the Xbox 360, the Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Wii.

All of these systems have their own array of games that are designed to be played with their particular system. Obviously you can not take a video game that was made for a Nintendo Wii and try to play it in your Playstation 3. The games are not compatible. So much so, in fact, that if you do, you could end up ruining your system while trying to accomplish the task.

Did we forget to mention, that Nintendo also has their all exclusive Nintendo ds? The Nintendo DS is a basic handheld video game that has a lot of similarities to the prior Game Boy systems. The difference is however apparent in the make of the machine, and also by the spectacular graphics that each series of the DS video games possess. However, do not try to utilize a game from an old fashioned Game Boy, and try to insert it into the system. This could be fatal to your machine.

Each game system is designed to read its particular make of games. The reasons are pretty obvious, however if you are a little confused on why you shouldn’t be able to cross video games between machines think about it in a realistic side of things.

Let’s say you own a DVD player, as well as a VHS player. Both players come with their own set of movies that are read by their particular machine. You would not want to try to put a DVD into your VHS player simply because the disk would get scratched and ruined. You would not be able to insert the VHS into the DVD player because it wouldn’t fit. The VHS is too big plus there will be nothing available to turn the wheels of the tape to play it.
